Picture this:
You clasp your hands together and leave just enough space between your palms to start twirling your thumbs. Being able to do this successfully, without your thumbs running into each other, feel some sort of satisfaction. You keep going, making different sized circumferences, big and small with a faster motion, like cogs in a well oiled machine. The action feels like something you could sit and infinitely experience.
The mechanical nature of the structure and organization mixed with the chaos of constant movement, explores where the ordinary meets the mesmerizing. This is what I recreate through dance. The constant motion and montages of movement humanize the performers through shape and form. The continual movement is repurposed throughout the work. The unexpected and spontaneity inspires my movement creation. I use lighting to warmly invite the audience into a trance, paired with hypnotic music selections.
